I love a book that really surprises me! Enhanced with an unpretentious cover and almost humorous name, this is one of those rare finds. Early on when I glanced at my first copy of Hellboy, I remember those same feelings... minimalist artwork, and an overly self descriptive name. It imparts a feeling that you couldn't possibly take the book seriously. But seriously, just like Hellboy, this is a great read. The story follows America's experiment, Atomic Robo, as he trudges through mobs of Nazi soldiers and their war machines. His constant quips and realistic struggles through battle bring the reader inside Atomic Robo's world. I feel this series is best described by a quote from one of the U.S. soldiers in book 3: leaning over a German captive "Sprekin ze GUN?".
Great stuff!
